U.S. Ski & Snowboard and Ski Austria, two of the world’s most renowned and successful national ski and snowboard associations, announced a partnership around sports, marketing and commercial opportunities designed to leverage the unique expertise and resources of both organizations to achieve shared goals. It is U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s first commercial partnership with another country’s national ski and snowboard organization.

The sport-specific aspect includes expanded training opportunities, as well as reciprocal access to world class training facilities for both elite and development-level athletes in Austria and the United States. The collaboration also focuses on sharing expertise, including the exchange of best practices in coaching, athlete development, sport science and performance optimization, as both organizations look to further innovate around sports performance.

From a commercial perspective, both organizations recognize the importance of leveraging their assets to maximize reach and revenue while delivering more value to their partners. Key areas include developing joint marketing initiatives to create shared opportunities for sponsors and media partners, as well as collaborating across social media, streaming platforms and other digital assets to engage a broader global audience, as well as co-creation of potential new events and experiences for athletes and fans.

“We are thrilled to embark on this deeper collaboration with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team,” said Ski Austria CEO Christian Scherer. “By combining our strengths and expertise, we are confident in our ability to create a significant impact, delivering value not only to our athletes but also to our fans and business partners. This partnership reflects our shared ambition to drive innovation and inspire the next generation of skiers and snowboarders worldwide.”

“We are pleased to expand our relationship with Ski Austria,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO Sophie Goldschmidt. “Their expertise and excellence are evident, and we know this partnership will improve us both on and off the snow. We share a vision and ambition for the future of snow sports, and I can’t wait to see how we can make improvements together for our stakeholders and fans.”

This strategic partnership marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the relationship between Ski Austria and U.S. Ski & Snowboard. With both organizations’ impressive roster of elite athletes and continuing to host important international competitions, the partnership demonstrates both countries’ commitment to innovation and will further strengthen both organizations’ global presence.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard is proud to join global leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where we can share our passion for winter sports and the natural beauty of the Swiss alpine.

"As the global community gathers in Davos for the World Economic Forum, we are thrilled to bring U.S. Ski & Snowboard to this extraordinary setting,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard President & CEO Sophie Goldschmidt. “By taking conversations from boardrooms to the slopes, we’re not only celebrating the beauty of the Swiss Alps but also inspiring fresh perspectives on how we can address global challenges together."

The ski resort Davos Klosters Mountains as a key partner is delighted to provide its facilities, slopes and full support for this extraordinary event. The collaboration has been made possible thanks to the sponsorship and support of Stifel U.S. Ski Team athlete and Olympic medalist Ryan Cochran-Siegle. Breaking new ground, it is the first time that meetings are held on the slopes rather than in traditional meeting rooms, giving attendees the chance to experience the breathtaking alpine landscape, the 253 kilometers of slopes and the gastronomy of Davos Klosters in an entirely new way.

Davos Klosters Mountains is renowned as one of the world's premier skiing destinations, member of Top of the Alps, offering exceptional slopes across five mountains, spectacular alpine scenery and top-tier facilities. In addition to hosting the WEF, Davos Klosters boasts a rich history in alpine skiing, the iconic Parsenn ski area and vibrant après-ski culture.

"We are proud that our ski areas will serve as the base for this special event, allowing us to present our wonderful ski region to a global audience during the WEF," said Vidal Schertenleib, CEO of Davos Klosters Mountains.

Para Snowboard World Cup Heading to Steamboat Ski Resort Feb. 25-27

By U.S. Ski & Snowboard
January, 16 2025
Steamboat Ski Resort

Park City, UT (Jan. 16, 2025)In partnership with Steamboat Ski Resort and the International Ski & Snowboard Federation (FIS), U.S. Ski & Snowboard announces that the FIS Para Snowboard World Cup is coming back to the U.S. for the first time since 2017 for a set of snowboard cross races in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Feb. 25-27. Along with the two World Cup races, the event will feature three NorAm Cup races and the U.S. Para Snowboard Championships.

"We’re thrilled to welcome the FIS Para Snowboard World Cup back to the United States for the first time in nearly a decade,” said Sophie Goldschmidt, President & CEO of U.S. Ski & Snowboard. “Hosting this event at Steamboat Ski Resort not only highlights the incredible talent of our Para snowboard athletes but also underscores our commitment to growing the sport and creating more opportunities for fans to experience the excitement of World Cup competition on home snow.”

“Steamboat has a long history of supporting world class athletes and competitions, so it’s only fitting to have the Para Snowboard World Cup’s return to the states be in Steamboat,” said Dave Hunter, president and CEO of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “The way this community rallies around athletes, I know the competitors will feel how magical it is to compete in Steamboat. We can’t wait to celebrate all the athletes, especially the US competitors and Noah Elliott who has long ties with Steamboat.”

Due to World Cup cancelations earlier in the season in Europe, an additional stop was needed to fill the snowboard cross schedule. This is the first time that many U.S. athletes will have the opportunity to race on the World Cup level in the United States.

“This will be my first time competing in a World Cup on home snow, and I am beyond thrilled. I will be able to have family in attendance who have never had the chance to see me compete,” said two-time Paralympic medalist and 2024 overall Crystal Globe winner Noah Elliott. “Steamboat truly holds a special place in my heart. It was the first place I ever visited in Colorado, my first time laying eyes on mountains, and my first time ever on a snowboard. I see no better fit for a venue to bring the first FIS Para Snowboard World Cup back home since 2017.”

The Para Snowboard World Cup at Steamboat demonstrates U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s commitment to grow the visibility of its athletes and sports through increasing domestic competition opportunities. By showcasing elite World Cup competition on home snow, U.S. Ski & Snowboard hopes to inspire future generations of Para snowboarding athletes.

The Toyota U.S. Para Snowboard Team is the best in the world, winning both Nations Cups last season along with six individual Crystal Globes. The 2024-25 season has already been a success for the U.S., recording four World Cup podiums at the first stop in Landgraaf, Netherlands. The team will take on their first snowboard cross events of the season this weekend in Pyhä, Finland, Feb. 18-19.

BEAVER CREEK, CO (Dec. 16, 2024) – CNBC, TOGETHXR and the Stifel U.S. Ski Team partnered to celebrate a historic moment in women's skiing: the inaugural women’s Stifel Birds of Prey race, Dec. 13-15. The event marked the first time women competed on the iconic Birds of Prey downhill, traditionally a men’s World Cup circuit race for the past 27 years.

This groundbreaking occasion brought together the Stifel U.S. Ski Team’s HERoic program, media company TOGETHXR and CNBC’s Senior Media & Technology Correspondent and author of “When Women Lead,” Julia Boorstin, who leads the CNBC Changemakers list. CNBC Changemakers recognizes female leaders who are impacting society, challenging established business practices and driving industry-wide change. TOGETHXR is the fastest growing and most comprehensive platform devoted to women’s sports. The HERoic program, spearheaded by U.S. Ski & Snowboard, is a movement aimed at empowering women in skiing and snowboarding by fostering leadership, inclusivity and opportunity within the sport.

The weekend’s events explored the intersection of women’s leadership in business and sport. CNBC’s Julia Boorstin moderated the event, joined by Olympic champion alpine skier Picabo Street and Olympic champion freestyle skier Hannah Kearney, alongside a distinguished group of top media, music, sports, tech and finance executives from the Lioness Network, a curated community of women executives brought together by LionTree. These leaders engaged in meaningful discussions about advancing opportunities for women and breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated spaces. The discussions aligned with the mission of CNBC Changemakers, TOGETHXR and the HERoic initiative: to inspire the next generation of women leaders and athletes.

"The inaugural women’s Stifel Birds of Prey is a historic moment for our sport, and we’re thrilled to have CNBC, TOGETHXR and LionTree as partners in celebrating this milestone,” said Sophie Goldschmidt, President and CEO of U.S. Ski & Snowboard. “Collectively, we’re breaking barriers and creating more opportunities for women in sports and in business, inspiring the next generation to chase their dreams."

“We’re excited to partner with U.S. Ski & Snowboard and LionTree for such a significant weekend for women ski racers,” said KC Sullivan, President of CNBC. “As part of our focus at CNBC, we look to share accomplishments of women who lead in business and in sports. This weekend and this partnership perfectly showcased these efforts.”

"The goal for all of women's sports on and off the field of play has to be to continue to expand the scope of awareness and investment, and the only way to do that is to proactively tell the stories and the opportunity to a larger audience who is looking to both invest and understand the global opportunities," said Betsy Morgan, operating partner and investor of TOGETHXR. "This weekend was the next logical step in expanding the funnel of opportunity through sharing information, and presenting a solid road ahead. Thanks to all who helped bring this together and we are looking forward to more positive growth and engagement going into 2025 and beyond."

“At Cloudflare, we believe that breaking barriers, whether in technology, business, or sport, drives progress,” said Stephanie Cohen, Chief Strategy Officer at Cloudflare, who attended the event. “The inaugural women’s Stifel Birds of Prey race is a groundbreaking moment that showcases the power of excellence. We are proud to stand alongside such incredible athletes and leaders, championing a future where women are empowered to lead and succeed in every arena.”

This collaboration underscores the shared commitment of CNBC, TOGETHXR, the Stifel U.S. Ski Team and LionTree to advancing women’s leadership and visibility in both business and sports, setting the stage for continued innovation and progress in the years to come.
